ABOUT SOLAR POWER IN PEABODY & SOUTH LYNNFIELD

Interested in installing Solar or other Renewable Energies on your property? PMLP has developed a Net Metering Policy to help the process go smoothly:

PMLP's SOLAR NET METERING POLICY

  • What is Net Metering?
Net Metering is a process by which PMLP will install a special meter on your house that measures both the amount of energy PMLP delivers to you and the amount of energy that you deliver to PMLP (for times when you are generating more than your home is using). For energy that you deliver to PMLP, PMLP will provide you a bill credit as described in our Net Metering Policy.
  • Which projects are eligible?
Any project that is owned or leased by the PMLP customer (Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Municipal) can be eligible under the Net Metering Policy. Lease or financing arrangements in which the solar company sells energy (kilowatt-hours) to the PMLP customer are not allowed.
  • Do I have to purchase the entire system up front?
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Collaborative may be able to assist you with a low interest loan to help you finance your system. Their website also has useful information on typical installation costs. See the link on the right side of this page or click here.
  • Which companies can I work with to install my solar system?
You can work with any company that you choose as long as the requirements of the Net Metering Policy are met. PMLP will not make recommendations on who you should work with, but we can provide you with a list of companies that have successfully installed solar for PMLP customers. You are not limited to the companies on this list.
  • How big can my system be?
PMLP’s Net Metering Policy allows for Residential Systems up to 15 kW (about 1,000 sq. ft. of solar panels) and Non-Residential Systems up to 200 kW (about 13,300 sq. ft. of solar panels). Have more space? PMLP can discuss a power purchase agreement (PPA) with you, where we could purchase the entire output of the solar system from you at a negotiated rate.

Have questions? More details can be found in our Net Metering Policy.

Of course, you are always more than welcome to call PMLP at (978) 531-5975 to discuss, ask questions and get expert answers.
